The Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary arrived at Holy Redeemer in 1908 and openned the parish school. They continue to be active members of the parish as: volunteers, home visitors, and musicians. The sisters also serve in the school as teachers and as administrators.
The Sisters of the Holy Names were founded in 1843 in the village of Longueuil, Quebec. The community grew quickly, in part to the extradorinary faith of its foundress Blessed Marie Rose Durocher.
In 1859 twelve sisters made the long journey from Quebec to Oregon, where they openned their first foundation outside of Canada, St. Mary's Academy.
Over the years dozens of young women from Holy Redeemer Parish have entered the sisters of the Holy Names.
