The Holy Redeemer Pastoral Council was one of the first parish councils established in the Archdiocese of Portland in response to the call from the Vatican Council to have lay people more involved in ministry in the Church. Perhaps the best way to explain the function of the council is to refer to the statements found in the Constitution of Holy Redeemer:
to provide a means for bringing God's people into close relationship and cooperation
to take action on the real needs, spiritual and temporal, in the parish
to involve people in the apostolic work of the parish
to coordinate the activities and efforts of parish organizations
to maintain a continuing program of leadership development
The council is composed of the pastor, officers, the chairs of the council's standing committees (Finance, Liturgy, Education and Parish Life), and four members elected by the parishioners.
Meetings are held the 1st Wednesday of the month and are open to all parishioners.
